Verim

The First Step of 1,000 Miles
Not Actually 1,000 Miles.

Gather ’round, gather ’round! Tis I, Master Brilligus here to tell you all a tale just begun!

Tis the 200th year since the gods last touched Verim and banished the Great Beast. It is in this year that I have seen one who is the greatest weaver of tales since the Bard Olfric and myself! He is a gnome of glib tongue and bright eye, and one day you will hears such tales of glorious triumph by the name Wilner!

~Master Brilligus, 8th Circle Savant

Wilner

An excitable young gnome with a wild imagination. His curiosity is near insatiable and he’s constantly writing things down in a thick notebook with small pictures, diagrams, and the occasional word or descriptive phrase in near illegible shorthand.

……………………………………………………………………………………………….

No no no, the kobold. Kitch! THAT one knows how to prepare a bomb!

I only had to show him once and then BOOM, brought the whole outhouse down! It was outstanding, but incredibly messy. That’s fine, though! Messy is good when you’re dealing with explosives. Well, when you’re dealing with their results at least…a messy workstation is how I lost my right pinky toe.

~Ravda, 8th Circle Alchemist

Kitchavissh

A chemistry and alchemically obsessed kobold. He is often going on about what components he needs to make a bigger better boom with his bombs. He’s still got all of his fingers and toes so he must be doing something right, eh?

……………………………………………………………………………………………….

And what have you done to deserve a private lesson?

As I recall Calin was assisting you with banishing that Nupperibo you summoned and failed to contain. This was after tutoring some of the younger trainee’s on somatic components, and performing the demonstration for casting while in duress. Wasn’t he your ‘eidolon’ partner during your first exam when you had Filth Fever? What I’m getting at is, he didn’t pass his 1st Circle test because I tutored him privately. I tutored him privately because he was already leagues ahead of the rest of you.

~Avan, 8th Circle Summoner

Calin

A rather quiet, somewhat impatient man whose already traveled a great deal on the island country of Athum. Thus far, the only indication that he is a spellcaster comes from his mention of it to Martin, the Wizard. He carries a Falcata and has a pony to carry his gear.

……………………………………………………………………………………………….

Not everyone can stand in front of the woes of the world and remain without wavering. This one can.

Garret is a Shield of Altus whom has consumed much of my time and energy in tempering, and none of it wasted. Not once has he broken or faltered in resolve to make something of himself for which his parents, and the Divine Father he serves; can be proud to claim. Tis an honor still to know my hand in his ascension.

Sajha Feronne, 8th Circle Paladin of Altus – Leadership

Garret Leagallow

A big, strong-looking man in scale armor. Garret looks every bit the tank that can withstand ludicrous punishment when he’s in the right fight. He carries himself well, but tends to also stare very hard at things as if looking for something unseen within them be it writhing bloody bags, or well-dressed rest stop owners.

……………………………………………………………………………………………….

Attention Gart

Good luck on your first quest. Just remember the rules.

1. Don’t die.
2. If you do something stupid, don’t get caught.
3. If you get caught, don’t do anything stupid.
4. Don’t come back empty-handed._

Signed,
The “Asshole Elf” To Whom You Owe Your Life

P.S. I have relieved your mess kit of one(1) item. Enjoy.
(It is the bowl)

Gart

A 7-foot tall gnoll with impossibly good stealth skills. He’s actually smarter then he looks, and much much quicker. Though is relationship with his instructor is odd and borderline antagonistic; he is well trained and it shows at nearly every turn in which he uses his skills.

……………………………………………………………………………………………….

Carlyle is a good hunter.

He and his wolf Arthus work well together. They did not die when I got them lost in the woods and made them find their way back.
What’s most important is he does not panic when things go wrong. He has high hopes for himself, as do I.

~Evni, 8th Circle Huntress

Carlyle Grimwald

A noble turned hunter, Carlyle doesn’t really talk much, but clearly has some skills under his belt. Thus far he’s served as a bit of a guide for the party being the only one with a map and any knowledge of nature and wilderness.

First Quest Begin!
______________________________________

After years of training, hard work, and honing their basic skills into something more than a collection of raw talents; Garret Leagallow the Sacred Shield, Carlyle Grimwald the Hunter, Wilner the Savant, Kitch the Alchemist, Calin, and the gnoll rogue Gart have managed to cobble together a full party of new blood. Each of them bring a unique skillset and specialty, and each of them heading for Garm, Bastion of the Everforge and home of many Dwarves.

The job is one that some have dealt with before and that’s some kind of overgrown vermin within the Garm Mines touched by rogue airs of Altus’s Myst weaving.

On their way out of the easternmost Nexus they got to see Garrett glare at a wiggling bag atop a horse coming back into the guild, a rest stop owner about half a day out, a kindly wizard offering to help them get proper rest in the tunnels, and an entire forest.

The kindly wizard appeared to them after they’d passed up a chance to rest at the stop by six hours. It turned out he was Martin Maze, the wizard instructor (8th circle) and cast the spell Secure Shelter for them.

The next day, they finally exited the East Nexus tunnel to Garm, but Kitch would not rise, far too exhausted from the day before and it’s hard hike. Soon out into a greener scene, the adventurers heard a commotion in the woods.

Carlyle immediately stalked into the brush with Wilner right behind them. Both of them disappearing in sight and sound. Shouts in Elven rang out of the forest, words and sound of a hunt complete with the squeal of a boar.

Garret trudged through the brush to join them, Calin cast Mage Armor on himself quickly, and moved to get his pony away from the sounds of arrows. Gart seemed to disappear behind a tree.

Upon reaching the sight, Wilner quietly confessed some confusion at what they were doing and suddenly one of the hunters turned on them.

After some tenuous diplomacy the situation was resolved and they were finally able to continue on their way.

Not all start their training at the same time, but even so they complete the first circle around the same time. Their graduation is coming soon, and then it’s on to take requests from the Hallowed Grounds, paying customers, and the Council themselves.
